From new facilities to next-gen tech, one defense contractor is betting big on the future of missile defense.

William Star with CACI joins John T. Seward at the 2026 Space and Missile Defense Symposium to break down the company’s Golden Dome work and what’s next for its growing Huntsville operation.

[SEWARD] CACI has a role in Golden Dome. And what does y’all’s footprint actually look like here in Huntsville?

[STAR] So we do. We are on S.H.I.E.L.D. And Huntsville is a strategic hub for CACI. We just added a new facility outside of Gate 9 of Redstone Arsenal, which has given us the opportunity to continue to grow our talented team and focus on a lot of the key work that’s being done in Huntsville to increase lethality and force protection for our nation.

[SEWARD] What are some of those key innovations? I mean, you talked about trying to bring in some of that workforce that’s here. Where does CACI see some of their innovation push happening right now?

[STAR] CACI is making key innovations along the lines of integration and synchronization of kinetic and non-kinetic effects to be able to get after some of the hardest challenges that face the nation when it comes to efforts like Golden Dome.

[SEWARD] So you mentioned non-kinetic effects there. When we talk about command and control and non-kinetic effects, what does that look like for the warfighter? How is that impacting them?

[STAR] Today, the ability to command and control non-kinetics is really a manual operation. It’s done with chat surfers, spreadsheets, emails. We’re automating that process for non-kinetics and then integrating with kinetics so that you can create a holistic effect for commanders, creating additional decision space, enhancing force protection and increasing lethality.

[SEWARD] It sounds like that’s a big part of what CACI is doing. What’s on the horizon for y’all? Where are y’all putting a lot of your energy in the future?

[STAR] One, we’re really looking forward to moving into our new facility and continuing to grow out that workforce. It’s been years in the works and we’re excited to get going on that. We are making a considerable investment in that integration and automation of the synchronization of kinetic and non-kinetic effects. And then we’re making strategic research and development investment in machine learning, artificial software-defined systems, specifically as they relate to the next generation of non-kinetic effects.
