OPINION:
Dolly Parton was America’s sweetheart. Not because she was one of the greatest songwriters who ever lived, not because of her beautiful voice or that she was very attractive and a good actress.
Americans and the entire world loved Dolly because she loved them first.
Dolly will be remembered for many things, but the common theme about her, which so impressed everyone, was her kindness to anyone she met.
One truck driver wrote that he had the good fortune to randomly meet Dolly and her husband at a truck stop in Texas. He said she was the nicest person he’d ever come across. Everyone was important to Dolly and she treated everyone with respect.
Without fail, Dolly followed the Golden Rule. She loved God with all her might and she loved her neighbor as herself.
Jesus once said that if a person does that, he has satisfied all of the Commandments.
Dolly’s nephew said that she walked in the light and she is now in the arms of Jesus. Yes, she is. And I am sure that Jesus whispered in her ear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
