LA CORUÑA, Spain — Deportivo La Coruna forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored for the third straight game at the start of the Spanish league season.
The Gabon forward, who joined Deportivo from Marseille in the offseason, struck again Sunday to give the promoted side from northwest Spain a 2-0 lead over Valencia.
Aubameyang scored on a counterattack, holding off the attention of two defenders, going around one, and then chipping the ball over the goalkeeper.
The match finished 3-1 for Deportivo’s first win since its return. The 37-year-old Aubameyang previously scored in 1-1 draws with Elche and Malaga in La Liga.
Before rejoining Marseille for a second spell from Saudi team Al-Qadsiah in 2025, Aubameyang played for Chelsea, Barcelona, and Arsenal after his breakthrough at Borussia Dortmund.
