OPINION:
As “Is legal weed making more people addicted? A new study suggests so” (Web, Aug. 24) implies, justifications for legalization of marijuana with a potency of 1% to 3% should be seriously reconsidered for marijuana with roughly 10 times that THC.
We seem to be in a place akin to one where alcohol is legal and people deny that alcohol abuse and alcoholism exist because they do not want to go back to Prohibition.
The ’it-doesn’t-have-that-much-impact’ justification for legalization of 1% to 3% marijuana should be rethought when it is 18% to 23% THC marijuana. We must reexamine the nature of what is legal, when it is legal for whom it is legal.
The Washington Times might consider reporting on marijuana-related DUIs and the resulting harm?
