The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it will retaliate if the U.S. continues “its war crimes and aggressive strikes” against Iranian infrastructure.
“As numerous officers and personnel of the occupying U.S. military have abandoned their base out of fear or targeted retaliation by our forces, they have instead relocated to buildings across the cities to direct their operations,” the IRGC said Friday in a statement.
Bahrain, home of the U.S. 5th Fleet and a frequent target of Iranian drone and missile attacks, said Friday that its air defense forces intercepted several aerial attacks launched by Tehran.
“Iran continues its systematic hostile approach through its unlawful attacks targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” the Bahrain News Agency reported, citing a government report. “The deliberate use of missiles and drones to target civilians and private property constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”
Iran said it used Arash long-range drones to destroy fuel tanks and warehouses at the Sheikh Issa Air Base in Bahrain. The facility hosts U.S. military personnel and aircraft maintenance workshops linked to military operations in the region.
Bahrain warned civilians to avoid any unfamiliar or suspicious objects after the Iranian drone strikes.
“Personnel from the Royal Field Engineering Unit remain on full alert to safely handle and neutralize such objects, ensuring the safety of all citizens and residents,” officials said Friday.
