Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto is facing allegations of criminal sexual conduct from four women who say the misconduct occurred when they were teenagers, news outlets report.
Ten women spoke about their experience in a BBC documentary, “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” saying the encounters took place between 2002 and 2016 when Mr. Leto was in his 30s and 40s.
One woman accused Mr. Leto of assaulting her in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another claims he threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19.
A third described a sexual encounter with Mr. Leto at the age of 17, below the age of consent at 18. A fourth said Mr. Leto made sexual phone calls to her at 16, before he asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she refused.
Four other women told the network they received “strange” and sexually charged phone calls from Mr. Leto when they were minors. Friends and family corroborated certain claims to the BBC.
Representatives for Mr. Leto, 54, denied the allegations in a statement, with the actor asserting he has never sexually assaulted anyone and calling the claims “categorically false.”
The BBC noted separately that it has identified more than 120 online allegations concerning Mr. Leto’s conduct toward women over the years. Mr. Leto has not otherwise responded publicly to the documentary.
Mr. Leto won a best supporting actor Oscar for his performance in 2013’s “Dallas Buyers Club.”
