OPINION:
An illegal alien from Canada, Kaitlyn Tracey, was charged with assault last month for slapping a 16-year-old girl wearing “patriotic-colored sweatpants with political wording” on the Point Pleasant, New Jersey, boardwalk (“Canadian woman facing deportation after accusation of slapping N.J. teen wearing Trump apparel,” Web, July 15).
Ms. Tracey was taken into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention in New Jersey. I strongly recommend that the 16-year-old girl and her parents file a $50 million lawsuit against Ms. Tracey while we still have physical jurisdiction over her in the United States.
At the same time, I would recommend that any assets of Ms. Tracey have liens put on them to ensure that the victim gets paid if her lawsuit is successful. That should include the defense fund Ms. Tracey’s husband has created for her. Neither Ms. Tracey nor her husband should profit from this assault.
I am sure there are a few lawyers in New Jersey who would be happy to take such a case, particularly if the victim is willing to share half the money that is recovered.
