A swarm of bees was seen buzzing Friday on the White House’s North Lawn and the surrounding area.
Thousands of bees were seen flying around a White House Press Corps media area and part of the driveway for the North Lawn, according to TMZ.
Freelance reporter Andrew Leyden posted a video of the swarm on X.
About 20 minutes after the swarm first appeared, the bees went into a hive sitting in a tree on the North Lawn, according to Fox News. No injuries to press, White House staffers or other bystanders have been reported as a result of the swarm.
First lady Melania Trump added a new honeybee hive containing two colonies of bees on the South Lawn, the White House said in a release last month. There were also two colonies already living at the White House and producing honey prior to the introduction of the new hive. The White House beekeeping program first started in 2009.
The two new colonies introduced by Ms. Trump are expected to increase White House honey production by about 30 pounds, the White House said.
