The Wizards’ young core is sticking around a bit longer. The franchise exercised team options on Sunday for center Alex Sarr, guard Bub Carrington, forward Kyshawn George, guard Tre Johnson and forward Will Riley.
Carrington, George and Sarr — first-round picks in 2024 — will remain under contract with Washington through their fourth NBA seasons. The Wizards also chose to opt-in for third-year, rookie-scale deals for Johnson and Riley — 2025 first-rounders.
Sarr has averaged 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists across 121 games since the Wizards drafted him with the No. 2 pick in 2024. Carrington has appeared in all 170 games since his NBA debut, the second-longest games streak in franchise history behind Wes Unseld.
