Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell remained at a hospital on Monday as he recovers from a neck injury suffered during Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings. But “primary indications are positive,” the team announced.

“Jack Campbell continues to rest and recover at a local hospital. Preliminary indications are positive and out of respect for Jack and his family we will not share further information at this time,” the Lions said in a statement.

Fans and fellow players from across the NFL landscape have sent words of support to Campbell and the Lions since he suffered the injury.

“It’s positive. Your prayers are working,” Lions coach Dan Campbell, who has no familial relation to the linebacker, told reporters on Monday. “Please continue to do that.”

The team has not confirmed whether Campbell, a 2023 first-round pick, has feelings in his extremities. He lay motionless, face-down on the field for several minutes on Sunday after suffering the injury. The Iowa product did not give a thumbs-up to the crowd as he was placed on a backboard and carted off the field by medical staff.

Lions officials previously noted that he was breathing and alert as he left the stadium in an ambulance.
