The Washington Commanders’ depth is being tested by injuries. The franchise sent running back Jeremy McNichols to injured reserve alongside defensive tackles Javon Kinlaw and Daron Payne.
Payne suffered his injury — a season-ending foot fracture — during practice on Friday. McNichols left Sunday night’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles early with his own mid-foot injury, coach Dan Quinn confirmed. Kinlaw missed Sunday’s game with a knee injury.
It is unclear how long McNichols and Kinlaw will be sidelined. Quinn said Monday that the team had “serious” concerns about McNichols’ foot. Kinlaw was ruled out for the Philadelphia game after missing the preceding week of practice.

Under NFL rules, players can be designated to return from injured reserve after missing at least four games. Third-year defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton was activated off of the injured list and returned to practice last week after missing the first six games with a pectoral tear. He is eligible to make his season debut on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
