The Metropolitan Police Department is looking for a man who defaced a synagogue in the 2800 block of Quebec Street NW in a possible hate crime.

The suspect is alleged to have gone to the building, written unspecified derogatory remarks on its exterior and fled on foot at around 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 14, police said Monday.

The police did not specify the building involved in their release, but said in a report cited by WUSA-TV that the Adas Israel Congregation was targeted and that the remarks written on the building were antisemitic.

The police said Monday that they are “investigating the offense as potentially being motivated in whole or in part by hate or bias.”

Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. The police offer a reward of up to $1,000 to anybody who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of someone accused of a crime in the District of Columbia.
