A man in South Carolina is accused of leaving his 6-year-old daughter sleeping and alone outside a Target to hold a place in line to buy a new set of Pokemon cards.
John-Michael Dooley, 35, was part of a crowd queuing outside the store Friday morning to buy products from the new “Mega Evolution-Delta Reign” Pokemon trading cards once the store opened, the Charleston Police Department said.
Witnesses alleged that sometime after 1 a.m., Mr. Dooley gave his daughter a blanket and pillow and left her in line while he left the scene. When he didn’t come back after about an hour, the other customers called the cops, the department said.

Police arrived at around 2:30 a.m. and arrested Mr. Dooley when he returned to the store, though they didn’t say when he came back.
Mr. Dooley “admitted that he had returned home, leaving his daughter unattended so he could maintain his place in line and avoid missing the opportunity to purchase the cards,” the police said.
Mr. Dooley is charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and is in custody. His daughter has been put into emergency protective custody with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, the police said.
