Visitors to Marina State Beach, 100 miles south of San Francisco, had an unusual cameo in their photos and videos Saturday: a breaching great white shark.

Video posted on social media shows the shark getting several feet into the air before falling back into the ocean.

Erin King, who helped get the footage, told Monterey’s KSBW that “It happened so fast. I mean, it was just an instant. So, it just so happened that we got to see that, and I don’t think anybody else really did.”

California State Parks confirmed that the shark breach caught on video was real, since it lined up with another video taken at the surf line.

California State Parks Chief Ranger Mike Dippel told the TV station that “given where she was standing, and the timestamp on her video, which matched up perfectly with the timestamp on the surf line video, it’s very likely to be the same shark.”
