Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said he instructed his country’s military and intelligence leaders to pursue overthrowing the Iranian regime in Tehran.
Speaking to cadets at an Israel Defense Forces graduation ceremony, Mr. Netanyahu said Iran is continuing to develop its nuclear arsenal, which Israel considers an existential threat to its safety.
“The Iranian regime still has not learned its lesson,” he said, according to The Times of Israel. “Therefore, there is only one way to remove this threat once and for all: to topple the regime in Iran, and that is my directive to the IDF, the Mossad and the security agencies.”

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Iran and its proxies against launching attacks during Israel’s elections next week.
“If Iran attacks Israel, Iran will burn,” Mr. Katz said during the IDF ceremony.
Directing Israeli military and intelligence officials to carry out the overthrow of Iran’s government marks a significant change. Previously, Mr. Netanyahu asserted that regime change must come from the Iranian people.
