Retail giant Walmart and manufacturer Pacific Coast Producers have recalled more than 44,000 cans of Great Value Fruit Cocktail in Fruit Juice from Concentrate due to potentially elevated levels of lead.

The Food and Drug Administration designated the recall as Class II on Oct. 20, meaning use of or exposure to the product may cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Pacific Coast Producers, based in Lodi, California, started the recall Oct. 1, according to the FDA’s recall notice. It covers 1,836 cases of 24 cans each, or 44,064 cans, that may have been contaminated with elevated levels of lead.

The 15-ounce cans have the UPC 078742369570, lot code 6FCB 04 C2263 and a best-by date of Sept. 1, 2027.

The product was distributed to Walmart stores in Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wyoming.

The FDA says lead is toxic and especially harmful to young children. Consumers who have the recalled cans should throw them away.

In September 2025, the same company recalled Wegmans fruit cocktail and Walmart pears for possible lead contamination, affecting about 62,340 cans, according to the FDA.
