House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, New York Democrat, said to an MS NOW audience that his party is preparing to run Secretary of War — only he said Defense — Pete Hegseth “out of town” if they take the majority this November. California Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said if his party wins the House, then his five priorities will be to investigate President Trump’s family, investigate the Trump administration’s Jeffrey Epstein investigation and investigate ICE and the Trump White House’s immigration policy.

New York Rep. Gregory Meeks, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said if his party wins the majority this midterm, then his priority is to investigate Trump’s international dealings. California Rep. Jared Huffman, ranking Democrat on the Natural Resources Committee, said if his party takes control this November, then he plans to investigate Trump’s so-called “vanity projects” — the ballroom, for example. And, of course, there’s always the Democrats’ standby, reliable, tried-and-true priority: “Impeachment is back on the menu,” Politico reported.

Democrats, where is your messaging?

Democrats are so woven into the “get Trump” narrative, they’ve forgotten their real mission in Congress is supposed to be to uphold the Constitution for the people of America. They’re supposed to serve the citizens and secure the citizens’ God-given rights and liberties — and that’s not one and the same with launching investigation after investigation into an administration and administration’s family they view as corrupt.

If Democrats cared about corruption, they would have spent the four horrible years of Joe Biden fighting against his presidency, and fighting to have him removed. Why? Biden, as president, was imbecilic, and the primary reason for his imbecilic behavior and speech was his cognitive decline due to some health issue. That the left, including his own wife, covered for him by running interference through the media and flatly condemning anyone who suggested his mind was on vacation didn’t disappear what we all saw with our own eyes: a stumbling, fumbling, high-stepping, goose-stepping elderly man who had no business being the commander in chief of the most powerful nation in the world. He barely belonged in the business of picking out his own ice cream cone flavor.

Crack in the White House.

The laptop from hell.

There was plenty there to keep Democrats busy.

But they didn’t care about corruption then.

“House Democrats Target Hegseth for Impeachment Push,” The Wall Street Journal wrote a couple of days ago.

“Mike Johnson predicts Trump impeachment if Democrats win House,” USA Today just wrote, about the recent House speaker’s warning. Johnson’s exact quote? He said, “It’s guaranteed, probably on the first day — first or second day. Remember, they’ve already filed articles of impeachment in this Congress. And they’re raring to go.”

It’s easy to launch investigation after investigation after investigation against a political enemy when the investigations are paid by tax dollars. Congressional committees may have their own budgets and they may have their written and stated missions, but how they choose to spend the money in their budgets and how they decide to pursue their missions are supposed to be matters of Americans First — that is, they are supposed to pursue what’s in the best interest of the American citizen and of the United States as a sovereign nation.

Vowing to impeach Trump and impeach Hegseth and investigate all-things-MAGA may make great campaign promises for Democrats trying to sway their low-information bases to get out and vote. But they’re largely wastes of tax dollars. In between the salaries that are doled out to lawyers, special investigators, the staff and aides and assistants required by these lawyers and special investigators, and the costs to print, distribute, provide materials that are then used in the hearings to justify the reasons for the investigations, Democrats in Congress could easily burn through upwards of $20 million pursuing their Get Trump agenda for the next two years. That’s in addition to the salaries of the congressional members themselves — salaries paid by taxpayers who elect their representatives to do the business of their respective states’ business, rather than use their seats to persecute political enemies.

“Spending in the Russia investigation for the duration of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s work hit nearly $32 million, according to a government report,” Politico reported in 2019.

Multiply that by however much time Democrats are in power, and however many scandals Democrats can invent. Democrats do love a good invented scandal. They’re the main beneficiaries, after all.

Calling for impeachment and calling for investigations of Trump and MAGA and conservatives is great for Democrat Party fundraising. It’s great for Democrats who are campaigning. It’s great for Democrat-supporting members of the media and their talking heads because it gives them plenty to discuss. But where the benefits disappear is when the people are considered.

If Democrats can’t come up with a better reason for their political existence than to “get Trump” and company, then they shouldn’t be in office in the first place. They’re not serving the interests of the American citizen. They’re only taking money they haven’t earned and using it to secure their seats and expand their personal power.
