She had a meeting with the CEO of the APA on Wednesday to make her case.
Dr. Lieberman describes TDS as far deeper than simply disliking the president. It’s when people project their own past experiences onto the president, blaming him for what has happened to them.
It can lead to behavior changes, such as refusing to socialize with friends or family. At its worst, the doctor said, it has spawned multiple assassination attempts against President Trump.

She said if TDS became an official diagnosis, more people would get treated and be able to live more fulfilling lives.
She got backing from a new survey that found 38% of people have had reactions that would qualify as TDS, and 70% said they have witnessed TDS-related anger or stress in someone they know.
In the survey, 41% said they have seen people stop socializing with friends or family over support for Mr. Trump. Shockingly, 22% said they have seen threats or aggressive behavior tied to negative feelings about the president.
