The injury bug hit the Washington Commanders in Week 1.
The team sent linebacker Jordan Magee to injured reserve after he suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Washington’s linebacking depth is being tested. Veteran Frankie Luvu, the defensive signal-caller, missed the end of that game with a groin injury. His status for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys in Dallas is still to be determined.
Magee has dealt with injuries throughout his NFL career. He missed nine games in his rookie season of 2024 due to a meniscus tear in his right knee.
The Temple product played primarily on special teams last season, earning more opportunities on defense as the campaign wore on. Through 26 games, he’s recorded 65 tackles through 26 games with nine starts.
The 2024 fifth-rounder missed his opportunity to join the starting lineup this offseason after Washington declined to re-sign linebacker Bobby Wagner. Instead, first-round rookie Sonny Styles and Leo Chenal — a free-agent acquisition from the Kansas City Chiefs — joined Luvu atop the depth chart.
