A conservative festival featuring Kid Rock has been canceled after only six VIP tickets to the event were sold.
The annual Patriots Day Freedom Fest in northern Kentucky was planned for Saturday but was canceled Monday after only six people purchased the $1,000 VIP tickets, organizer Eric Deters announced on Facebook.
Mr. Deters, a lawyer and two-time Republican candidate, said he had counted on the VIP ticket sales to fund the event. His budget was built around sales to “100 people that I interact with on a regular basis” who did not follow through.
“Rich people, as a whole, suck,” he said on Facebook Live.
This year’s lineup was set to include Kid Rock, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Rep. James Comer, congressional nominee Ed Gallrein and Fox News contributor Joe Concha. Past festivals have featured Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Candace Owens.
Mr. Deters said he does not plan to hold the event again, saying he is “never ever, ever, ever, ever doing this event again.”
He disputed any suggestion that low overall attendance, rather than VIP sales specifically, led to the cancellation, posting photos of large crowds from past years and saying fans were eager to see Kid Rock perform.
Mr. Deters said the VIP ticket holdouts were Trump supporters who “value money more than anything else in the world.”
