I’ve been a Democrat and I’ve been a Republican. Now, I am a proud independent.
I like to get all sides of the issues, so I read the Washington Post, The Washington Times, The New York Times, The Washington Examiner, etc.
As a devout Catholic, I always enjoy Billy Hallowell’s columns.
However, I do take issue on his recent piece, “God, Country and the American Story: Why faith still belongs in American government” (Web, July 13), on how Democrats need to show the Bible more respect.
Yes, he makes some good points in this column. But he is attacking only Democrats, leaving the Republicans out of the equation.
On Easter Sunday morning, President Trump used his f-bombs in reference to specific issues in the war with Iran. Is that type of language appropriate on Easter Sunday morning, the holiest day on the Christian calendar? Why did Mr. Hallowell not mention this in his tirade about respecting the Bible?
I agree with his analysis in “The vile evil attacking Erika Kirk must be condemned” (Web, July 10), on the attacks on Erika Kirk. People who make vile, vicious remarks — especially when they direct them at a widow such as Erika Kirk — are lower than a melon rind in a grease trap.
Yet our president counters with the same unbiblical vile against his opponents. Mr. Hallowell doesn’t mention the various names the president calls people and countries he doesn’t like.
