OPINION:
It’s bad enough to think that China wins the war on technology dominance around the world. But what of artificial intelligence that teaches itself to dominate humanity?
The world is rapidly hurtling toward a time when technology is going to supplant humans — humanity itself! — and as Jed Babbin, national security expert, author, and former defense official for President George H.W. Bush, said: there’s not much that can be done to stop this from happening.
It’s too late, Babbin said, to turn back to a time when technological development can be easily controlled.
The best chance the world has of slowing the roll on A.I. is via some sort of international treaty, he said.
But even then — what’s to guarantee China, Iran, North Korea, Russia and all the other anti-West, anti-free, anti-America governments will abide the terms of such a treaty?
It’s very difficult to look at the future of A.I. and see positives, Babbin said.
