President Trump may be touting America’s Golden Era, but his hair has gone brown.
The president debuted the darker hairdo on Friday while descending the stairs of Air Force One in Morristown, New Jersey, en route to his golf club in Bedminster.
His locks blew in the breeze, flipping his part to the other side of his head and prompting speculation from his usual detractors that he was wearing a wig.
“There is NO WAY you can convince me that this is his real hair today,” Brian Krassenstein posted on X.
Another poster commented the president’s hair “is giving soft coastal grandpa vibes, like he just got off a sailboat and forgot to fix it before brunch. Kind of impressive honestly.”
The Russian media outlet RT also took notice: “The president, famous for his swooping golden-blond locks, was spotted with an almost brunette look after stepping off Air Force One.”
Mr. Trump famously colors his own hair and, according to biographer Michael Wolff, has one of his aides carry a “patch kit,” for his tresses. “He has what are called ’patches,’ and they call it the ’patch kit,’ and the patch kit is little, you know, small tufts of hair that match whatever color his hair might be at the time,” Wolff said recently during an interview on the podcast “Inside Trump’s Head.” “Those are applied if needed and if necessary.”
Mr. Trump’s famously blond locks have long been the subject of fascination and ridicule from both fans and foes.
He appeared on Jimmy Fallon ahead of the 2016 election and allowed the comedy host to tousle his hair just to prove it wasn’t fake. After debuting his darker hair, Mr. Trump covered his head in one of his signature red hats while on his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf course Friday.
Mr. Trump last week pushed back on claims that he wears a wig, recounting to Republican lawmakers in a Rose Garden speech that his hair stays on during windy conditions.
During Sen. Bernie Moreno’s 2024 Ohio Senate campaign, the president said, he appeared on stage during heavy winds at a rally for the candidate just before the election.
“It was blowing so hard that actually, for years I had to suffer with people saying, ‘he wears a wig.’ I don’t wear a wig. But that night they found out I did not wear a wig because if you did, it was not going to be on your head very long,” the president said.
