Former presidential son Hunter Biden is hoping to finally profit from the “Laptop from Hell” that exposed his drug use, debauchery and corruption.
Mr. Biden has formally launched a crypto meme coin called LAPTOP. The coin went live on Monday afternoon.
The coin is inspired by his infamous laptop, which Mr. Biden abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop in April 2019.
The contents were provided to The New York Post, which published eye-popping emails days before the 2020 presidential election.
The material included an email revealing how Hunter Biden connected his father, then the vice president, to a top executive at the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, about a year after Hunter Biden joined the Burisma board for a lucrative salary.
The laptop has since been mined for emails that connected former President Joe Biden to his son’s business deals and troubling photos showing Hunter Biden with drugs and hookers.
Twitter staff at the time blocked the New York Post’s laptop story, labeling it “unsafe,” and prevented users from sharing links to the story via direct message.
Twitter also temporarily suspended the account of The Post, one of the most popular news sites in the world, in response to the paper’s initial tweeting of the laptop story.
The story was censored two weeks before the presidential election, and Twitter executives were responding to the demands of the Biden campaign team, which contacted them through back channels.
Mr. Biden’s campaign team tried to further discredit the laptop by circulating a letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials who said the lurid material appeared to be Russian disinformation.
But the FBI had the laptop’s contents.
During Hunter Biden’s federal firearms trial in 2024, prosecutors highlighted text messages stored on the laptop in which he wrote about being addicted to drugs or trying to purchase drugs.
The senior Biden denied having any direct involvement in his son’s business dealings.
