A huge brawl broke out on the floor of the Armenian Parliament on Thursday when members of the legislative body got into an argument over a potential “Ministry of Sex.”

The fight broke out in the National Assembly when Strong Armenia leader Narek Karapetayan verbally clashed with MP Taron Chakhoyan. Their disagreement became physical, as more lawmakers eventually rose and started fighting with each other.

Earlier this year, Strong Armenia promised the new ministry would leave “no unsatisfied women” in the country, according to The Telegraph. The party said that sexual dissatisfaction caused a rise in middle-aged women engaging politically.

On Thursday, Mr. Chakhoyan, of the ruling Civil Contract party, accused Strong Armenia of being “steeped in corruption,” demanding an apology to women.

MPs rushed the podium where Mr. Chakhoyan was speaking as the fight broke out.

One member of Civil Contract threw a chair; Mr. Chakhoyan poured a glass of water on another man. Others threw bottles and broke tables during the brawl.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a statement, “I condemn violence, but I support the measures taken by the Civil Contract faction today, because [Strong Armenia] being in the opposition does not mean that one should become insolent.”

Even when the session was called into recess, the fight continued in the corridors of the building, according to The Telegraph.
