RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A New York City police officer from Long Island has been suspended without pay after he was charged with sending a lewd video of himself to a 16-year-old Suffolk County girl.
NYPD officials announced Wednesday that 38-year-old Officer David Stagliano, of Ronkonkoma, was placed on leave following his arrest by Suffolk County police last Friday.
Stagliano was charged with felony distributing indecent material to a minor and a misdemeanor charge of acting in a manner injurious to a child under the age of 17.
Prosecutors say Stagliano sent a 21-second video of himself performing a sex act to his victim in addition to engaging in phone sex with the girl. He also was allegedly pressuring her to engage in further sexual activity.
Stagliano’s attorney declined to comment on the charges.
