Amanda Seyfried says she turned down a television role because it required sex scenes, which she now avoids.
The star of 2025’s erotic psychological thriller “The Housemaid” made the revelation during a panel moderated by Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival in East Hampton, New York, this month. “The Housemaid,” directed by Paul Feig, also stars Sydney Sweeney.
Ms. Seyfried, 40, said she passed on the unnamed TV show because it would have required frequent sex scenes, adding that she is uncomfortable with them at this point and does not want to be naked with a stranger.

She said she might feel differently later but added that she has children who pay attention to her work, so she has to be “less of a pushover,” People reported.
She recalled that such scenes once felt like “a non-thing” early in her career, including HBO’s polygamy drama series “Big Love,” which aired from 2006 to 2011.
She attended the Hamptons festival to support “The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd,” directed by Tim Blake Nelson. In the film, she plays a teacher who falls for an inmate at the maximum-security prison where she works.
Ms. Seyfried has two children, Nina, 9, and Thomas, 6, with her former husband, actor Thomas Sadoski. The couple announced their split in September after nine years together.
