LOS LUNAS, N.M. (AP) - Police in Los Lunas say a man is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly hitting someone with his vehicle and then leaving the scene.

They say 29-year-old Jacob Duran was arrested Saturday.

He remains jailed on a $100,000 cash-only bond at the Valencia County Detention Center.

It’s unclear if Duran has a lawyer yet.

Police say surveillance video show the driver plowing into the person standing near the door of a fast-food restaurant and then driving away.

They say the victim’s leg was nearly severed and he’s hospitalized in critical condition.

The name of the man hasn’t been released.

KOB-TV reports that Duran’s family says the man had bullied Duran in the past.
