PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - A man who killed three people during a Pasadena shooting rampage has pleaded guilty to murder.
Prosecutors say 46-year-old John Izeal Smith entered pleas Thursday to first- and second-degree murder, attempted murder and assault on a peace officer.
He’s facing 181 years to life in prison.
Authorities say Smith got into an argument with his live-in girlfriend, 59-year-old Maria Aguiar, two years ago.
He grabbed an assault rifle and killed the woman, her 91-year-old father and a neighbor who rushed to the scene to help the wounded Aguiar as she lay on a sidewalk.
Two other neighbors were wounded and police faced gunfire when they went to the scene.
Smith barricaded himself in the home but later surrendered.
