MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) - Berkeley County sheriff’s deputies and federal agents have arrested a man and charged him with attacking a couple on Daniel Island with a sword.
News outlets reported that 27-year-old John Michael Juba was arrested Wednesday on the Isle of Palms and charged with aggravated assault and battery.
Deputies were called Dec. 5 to a home on Daniel Island by a woman who said she had been cut on her leg with a sword.
A sheriff’s report says the woman and her estranged husband had gone to buy tools. The report says Juba was with the seller and was playing with a sword.
The seller told deputies Juba stabbed the man in the abdomen. There was no further word on the couple’s condition.
It was unclear whether Juba has an attorney.
