LOS ANGELES (AP) - Prosecutors say two women and a man have been charged with killing a 72-year-old man whose burned body was found at Southern California’s Joshua Tree National Park.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office says Tuesday that 38-year-old John Schiefer, 40-year-old Shavonne Webster and 44-year-old Haena Kealia Worthing each face one count of murder. It wasn’t immediately known if they have lawyers.
Investigators believe the trio killed William Webb on Aug. 15. Webb’s burned body was found the next day in a dry lake bed at the desert park about 135 miles (217 kilometers) east of Los Angeles.
The criminal complaint includes an allegation that Schiefer and Webster used a hammer during the killing.
Arraignment for Worthing is scheduled for Tuesday. Schiefer and Webster are set to be arraigned Sept. 9.
