Russell Brand’s wife, Laura Gallacher, defended him Thursday when she took the stand during his rape trial in London.

Ms. Gallacher took the stand one day after Mr. Brand, an actor and YouTube personality, testified on his own behalf. She appeared in court as a character witness.

Mr. Brand has been charged with three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted indecent assault. The claimants say the offenses took place between 1999 and 2009.

When asked by Mr. Brand’s defense lawyer about her husband, Ms. Gallacher called him “caring and kind,” a “wonderful father” and an “amazing father.”

“I feel very seen by him,” she added. “We have a very honest, frank and clear relationship and marriage. … Our relationship has always been [about] honesty.”

Mr. Brand and Ms. Gallacher have been married since 2017, and the couple has three children. They first met during one of his comedy shows in 2006, when she was 19 and he was 31. They split the following year and reconnected in 2014.
