ERIE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a man apparently followed a woman into a northwestern Pennsylvania neighborhood, blocking her into a driveway and killed her while she was in the vehicle.
He then turned the gun on himself, they said.
Erie County Coroner Lyle Cook said the encounter with the 51-year-old man and 45-year-old woman happened about 6:30 p.m. Monday in an east Erie neighborhood.
Investigators said the two Harborcreek Township residents recently ended a relationship with one another. They say the two were driving in separate cars and the man is believed to have followed the woman, blocked her into a driveway, exited his vehicle and shot her while she was in her car and then shot himself.
Cook said Tuesday that the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was pronounced dead after she was taken to UPMC Hamot. The deaths were ruled a murder-suicide, but the names of the two haven’t been released pending notification of relatives.
Detectives are now looking for home security camera video from the area as part of the investigation.
