SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The governor’s half brother has pleaded guilty after police say he was caught in an explicit online chat with a supposed underage girl.
Paul Gordon Peters pleaded guilty Monday to enticing a minor and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor in a deal with prosecutors. Six other charges were dismissed in exchange.
Authorities say the 57-year-old Peters chatted online with a police detective who pretended to be a 13-year-old girl. Peters was arrested in Provo where the two agreed to meet in May.
He faces up to five years in prison on each count at a sentencing set for Dec. 12.
Gov. Gary Herbert’s spokesman has said the governor and Peters were raised in different households.
A lawyer for Peters could not immediately be reached for comment.
