TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a New Jersey pizzeria heir to 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of a business partner.
Daniele RomeodiSantillo of Jackson said he was sorry that 34-year-old Peyman Sanandaji was shot. But the 29-year-old insisted he was innocent.
Sanandaji was gunned down in 2015 at a closed restaurant that Romeodisantillo’s father owned.
Prosecutors said he wanted the man killed to cover up the theft of $140,000 that Sanandaji had paid to invest in two pizzerias and real estate.
The defense argued he was shot after a drunken argument with a fellow business partner who is awaiting trial.
