SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 17-year-old man charged in a fatal Sumter County shooting was out on bond on an attempted murder charge the month before.
Deputies said they charged Rhythm Portee with voluntary manslaughter after 19-year-old Raquan Bethea was shot in the chest and died Thursday evening.
Investigators say Portee shot the other teen as they played a game with a gun.
Authorities say Portee was already out on bond for another shooting in December that wounded one person.
Portee is charged as an adult in both cases. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
