GREENWOOD, Del. (AP) - A car crash led to the arrest of a Delaware man who authorities say had a stolen rifle inside his vehicle.
Delaware State Police said in a statement late Saturday that 48-year-old Robert T. Reed of Greenwood lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a slight curve. His car struck a telephone pole Friday night before the car overturned.
The statement says a search of the vehicle revealed a .22-caliber rifle that was reported stolen two years ago, along with an assault rifle and a CO2-powered handgun.
Reed was taken to a hospital before being charged multiple weapons- and traffic-related offenses, including receiving a stolen firearm.
The statement says he was arraigned and taken to the Sussex Correctional Institution. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
