BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man has received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to sending a nude photo of himself online to someone he believed to be a child.

Timothy Hanson, of Burlington pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor. The 56-year-old Hanson was sentenced to five to six months in prison, all suspended, and placed on probation for two years.

Prosecutors said Hanson communicated over the internet with someone whom he believed to be a minor, and after making sexual-related comments, sent the photo. It wasn’t immediately clear who received the image.

He will need to engage in treatment that addresses the conduct that led to the conviction, as well as alcohol counseling. In addition, the probation conditions restrict him from contacting minors.
