No decision for Lannan

← return to Chatter

John Lannan authored yet another fine pitching performance for the Nats today — two runs, five hits over six innings — but emerged with no decision. Actually, Lannan was in line to take the loss, because the Nats trailed 2-1 when Ryan Langerhans came up to pinch-hit for the left-hander in the top of the seventh. Langerhans, though, came through with his first hit in seven at-bats since joining the roster: a line drive single to right that scored Elijah Dukes and tied the game 2-2.

That’s where things stand now in the bottom of the seventh, with Saul Rivera on in relief of Lannan, trying to hold things down and give the Nats a chance to take the lead.

One thing to consider, though (and I’m scared to even bring this up): The Padres have already played a 22-inning game and an 18-inning game on getaway days this season. In other words, somebody better score sometime soon.
