Maybe it was sort of silly to leave D1scourse headquarters in Glen Burnie around 1:30 for an 8 p.m. game at Comcast Center. After all, traffic couldn’t be that bad in the middle of the afternoon – especially with most folks who would want to be in the District already there rather than on the roads.
But there was an anticipation of armageddon locally thanks to the traffic-paralyzing festivities in town, so there was no reason to not be cautious.
So too, it would seem, for part of the Virginia media contingent. Two beat writers and a Charlottesville television station are already represented in the press room, and it would be no surprise if a few more straggle in here well before students are allowed in another 2 1/2 hours.
Does all this mean traffic won’t get worse? Of course not, especially because this is the Capital Beltway, after all. But as of now, it’s not nearly as big a disaster as everyone might have guessed.
