Final: Maryland 82, Dartmouth 53

Maryland hadn’t played in two weeks when it took the floor today against Dartmouth.

Aside from Kristi Toliver, a little rust was evident – not that it really mattered.

This is the benefit of being a No. 1 seed. You can play poorly and still get a double-digit win (like Maryland did for much of last year’s opener against Coppin State).

This year, the Terps were OK. Not great. Certainly not sharp enough to beat some of the better teams down the road.

But plenty good enough to run Dartmouth off the floor for a blowout victory.

Toliver finished with 27 points, and Marissa Coleman had nine points and 13 rebounds.

In short, other than Toliver’s dominant first half, there isn’t much to write home about. That’s OK. No one remembers much about No. 1 seed’s first game in the NCAA tournament. This one was no different.
