Reviewing Saturday’s predictions for Navy …

1. Alexander Teich will run for 100 yards.

SEE RELATED:

INCORRECT. A year after rumbling all over East Carolina, Teich was held in check by the Pirates. The senior had 12 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown

2. Navy will force three turnovers.

INCORRECT. The Midshipmen didn’t force one turnover against the team that entered the week last among 120 major-college teams in turnover margin. In a tight game, this was a bit of a problem.

3. Navy will allow its largest passing yardage total of the season.

CORRECT. In impressive fashion, Dominique Davis threw for 372 yards for East Carolina (on 40 of 45 passing). The Mids allowed 301 yards to Southern Mississippi through the air two weeks earlier.

4. Navy will not score 76 points – or even 50, for that matter.

CORRECT. The stars didn’t align again for a crazy offensive day. But the Mids still scored 35 points, marking the fifth time in seven games they managed to get into the 30s.

5. Navy will win its third game of the season.

INCORRECT. Another close loss for the Mids, who have absorbed four of their setbacks by a combined eight points. Still, Navy needs to win four of its final five games to earn their ninth straight bowl bid, and their margin of error will be gone if they lose next week at Notre Dame.

EAST CAROLINA RECORD: 2-for-5
SEASON RECORD: 20-for-35
