Maryland coach Randy Edsall said Tuesday he believed it was appropriate to hand down equal suspensions to wide receivers Quintin McCree and Ronnie Tyler.

Both McCree and Tyler were suspended for a violation of team rules on Sept. 15 and missed the next two games, both Maryland losses. Edsall said Sunday both seniors would play Saturday when the Terrapins (1-2) face Towson.

Tyler was charged with second-degree assault for an incident early on Sept. 15 and faces a Nov. 1 trial. Maryland’s campus police said McCree was present for the incident but was not charged.

“I was privy to a lot more information than anybody else sitting in this room or anybody sitting on the outside,” Edsall said. “I’m not going to get into any of the details, but I had seen the evidence, watched the evidence, so I had plenty of information. The punishment that was given out to both of them was the right [one] for both young men based on all the information that I have.”
