A new poll out this week finds that in a head-to-head battle against Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the 2012 presidential election, President Obama would emerge victorious the Lone Star state.

The Public Policy Poll shows Mr. Obama trailing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney by 8 percentage points, Texas Rep. Ron Paul by 5 percentage points, Rep. Michele Bachmann by 3 points and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty by a percentage point.

Meanwhile, the poll shows Mr. Obama is tied with Herman Cain and ahead of both Mr. Perry and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — neither of whom has entered the race.

The poll also shows that Mrs. Bachmann is the most popular Republican contender.

The poll is found at http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Release_TX_629513.pdf.
