President Obama’s re-election campaign has launched a website for supporters to counter “phony attacks” on Mr. Obama — and to raise more money, too.
The site is called AttackWatch.com, and campaign officials say it will allow them to keep track of “the next big lie” about Mr. Obama, such as the claim he was not born in the United States.
“I remember the smears from 2008 well, and I’m sure you do, too,” campaign manager Jim Messina said in an email to supporters. “This time, they’re not just out to personally attack the President — they’re also out to mislead Americans about the record of accomplishments that he’s compiled.”
The missive asks supporters to be vigilant about “new smears” and to respond with “the truth,” as provided by the campaign.
Or, if no big lies are apparent at the moment, supporters are encouraged to donate $5 to Mr. Obama’s campaign fund.
