President Obama and Democratic Senate hopeful Bob Kerrey have an equally tough hill to climb in Nebraska.
A new poll by the Omaha World-Herald newspaper shows Mr. Obama trailing Republican Mitt Romney about 10 percentage points in Nebraska, while Mr. Kerrey — the state’s former governor and two-term senator — trails his GOP challenger, Deb Fischer, by the same margin.
Among likely voters, Mr. Kerrey trails by 16 points, the figures show.
Despite his grim numbers in the Cornhusker state, the poll did reveal a silver lining for Mr. Obama. He’s even with Mr. Romney in the state’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes Omaha and offers one electoral vote.
The district, which went for Mr. Obama in 2008, is dead even, with 44 percent of voters saying they support the president and an equal number backing Mr. Romney.
