President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are hosting members of the Cabinet and their families at Camp David Friday, away from the media.

The president departed the White House in mid-morning on Marine One for the short helicopter flight to the presidential retreat in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland. He was scheduled to return to Washington Friday evening.

The press was not allowed to accompany the president on this trip. Veteran White House reporter Mark Knoller of CBS Radio said it’s customary for the press to travel to Camp David only if there is some sort of official event.
