Vice President Joseph R. Biden, who poked fun at his own penchant for verbal slip-ups at an event in Washington Tuesday night, was at it again Wednesday morning when he spoke at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy graduation in New London, Conn.
He referred to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy as “Governor O’Malley” during the introductions, a CBS affiliate reported.
Martin O’Malley is the governor of Maryland — and actually could be a potential rival of Mr. Biden’s for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.
But Mr. Biden continued the address and the slip went generally unnoticed, WFSB reported.
During the speech Tuesday night to mark Jewish American Heritage Month, Mr. Biden asked for the teleprompter in the room to be taken down. Then he poked fun at President Obama’s reliance on the machine.
“You can’t tell Barack that the teleprompter’s down,” Mr. Biden told the audience. “The standing joke in the office is Barack’s learning to speak without a teleprompter; I’m learning to speak with one.”
