    Blacks, Whites, conservatives, liberals, Christians, Jews, Democrats, Republicans, Muslims, Latinos, men and women, Red State and Blue State folks, etc, are all losing homes and jobs, dying in wars, have no health insurance and, paying over $4 for a gallon of gas. They can claim all that is positive about our city from our sports teams, rich culture, entertainment, nightlife, and economic abundance.     In response to a rash of shootings, The Metropolitan Police Department announced that it will restrict motor vehicle access to some 5th District neighborhoods. By deploying them, I feel we are erecting more barriers, which isolate entire communities and have the potential to diminish the self-esteem of those that live in them. Published June 5 2008
