OK, so Peter King has the Redskins ranked fourth in the NFL, and just a few short minutes ago that seemed awful high, even though it’s early in the season.
But there are folks out there with computers who do this type of thing for a living. There’s math involved, and thankfully someone else — namely, Jeff Sagarin of USA Today — did the calculations.
And according to his equations and such, the Washington Redskins are the best team in the NFL. (Thanks to Redskins fan Hunter B. for the tip)
Sagarin’s ratings use things like stength of schedule, Elo Chess (which sounds like a band) and the Pure Points/Predictor. What, no Pecota?
1. Washington Redskins = 29.22
2. Dallas Cowboys = 28.74
3. New York Giants = 28.02
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers = 27.51
5. Tennessee Titans = 27.50
Nice division, huh?
FWIW, only three unbeaten teams remain: Buffalo (4-0), the Giants (3-0), the Titans (4-0) and the Ravens (2-0), who play the Steelers tonight.
